I gather you use a VGA connector to connect the iPad to a TV ...?
Where typically would it plug into the TV or does it hook to the cable box? I'm not sure if/how I would gain from it. The only thing I envision is watching the videos that I watch on my iPhone/iPad (which includes videos on the bedroom computer and NetFlix) on the TV. DOES THE BGA adapter (sold for the iPad) work on the iPhone too? Other than what I mention will ther be any other use for the VGA adapter? One last question are most TVs configured to work with VGA adapter i have HDMI but don't know about VGA All my TVs are less than five years old! Thanks.
You connect the VGA cable to the VGA in on your TV. If your TV hasn't a VGA connector, then you need an iPad A/V cable for the best connector your TV has, which would be (best to worst) HDMI, component, or composite.
Many "modern" LCD, plasma, and projector TVs have VGA input, but not all. All should have component or HDMI. You may need HDMI for some secure content.
The only thing you connect to the cable box is cable, and its cable to the TV. It cannot act as a passthrough for video signals.
